The sparkling starfish of the Silver Stream
It is said that if you listen to the Silver Stream long enough, you will not only hear the song of the water, but also the giggles of two starfish dancing between the waves.
Aqua and Maris are creatures of the sea—ancient yet playful, born from a drop of morning dew and a ray of sunlight that fell into a hidden cove. No one knows if they are sisters or simply two souls who met at the right time. One thing is certain: where Aqua is, Maris is not far away.
Aqua is the older one—a little taller, a little calmer. Her five arms are long and elegant, their colors shimmering like deep lagoons in the moonlight: cool, clear, mysterious. She loves the current, the gentle pull of the water that carries her away to distant places where no fish has ever swum. When asked, she says, "I hear the song of the deep—and I must follow it."
Maris, on the other hand, is a whirlwind. Her colors dance like sunlight on wet sand—warm, golden, vibrant. She hops from rock to rock, hides under seaweed, giggles with little crabs, and tells anyone who will listen what she's been up to. For her, the world is a big scrapbook full of glitter and stories.
And yet, as different as they are, when night falls and the waters grow still, Aqua and Maris lie side by side on a shallow shell bank, gaze up at the liquid stars above them, and tell each other what they have seen.
Aqua speaks of dark caves and glowing jellyfish, of forgotten shipwrecks and old songs whispered by the water. Maris tells of a fish that laughed and a mossy rock that snored, of a water strider that wrote poetry and a dragonfly with glittering wings.
And so each new day begins with a farewell – and ends with a reunion. They set off, swim, dance, explore. Sometimes together, sometimes apart. But always connected. Because that's who they are: two starfish, one heartbeat – born of magic, alive with friendship.
And if you look closely, where the water sparkles like broken glass, you can sometimes see them. Or at least think you've seen them.
